At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to show evidence of an enlarged vocabulary, exhibit an improved ability to analyze different literary genres, demonstrate proficiency in writing paragraphs and essays in all four forms of discourse and in compiling a well-documented research paper, proofread confidently, and write in a style that evidences aspects of individual personality. This course will survey British Literature from its Anglo-Saxon origins to contemporary British authors.
