Title:  BASIC WOOD TECHNOLOGY                                         735000

Description:  Basic Woodworking is a course designed to provide opportunities for students to learn through hands-on experiences with hand and power tools in constructing and shaping articles of wood and related materials. Learning activities include the repair and reconstruction of wood-based items, as well as construction of student-designed projects.  A wide range of occupations and career opportunities in woodworking and wood related industries are studied.  Basic woodworking is designed for students desiring a broad, general industrial and technical background in woodworking, and for those having a special a vocational interest in basic woodwork.

 

Title:  ADVANCED WOOD TECHNOLOGY                               736000

Description: This course is recommended for students in grades 11-12. Advanced woodworking is designed for students interested in improving their knowledge and experiences with the materials, tools, and processes utilized in the manufacture of wood products.  Students will be instructed in the proper and safe use of power machines and power tools used in the construction of furniture, recreational products, or any project that can be utilized as a vehicle for learning and enhancing skill development.  Instruction is presented so as to develop higher skill levels in planning, design, and construction.  Wood related occupations are studied.

 

Title:  BASIC TECHNICAL DRAFTING BLOCK             990012

Description: This first-year course in drafting begins with basic mechanical drawing techniques and covers all aspects of drafting needed for entrance into advanced courses. This course is a prerequisite for all advanced drafting courses. The student will acquire 20 hours of computer-aided drafting.

 

Title:  ADVANCED TECHNICAL DRAFTING                      722600

Description:  Advanced Technical Drafting is an extension of Basic Drafting.  The student is required to apply previous learned skills to more challenging drawings performed conventionally and on CAD (computer-aided drafting).

 

Title:  ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING                                  724100

Recommended Grade Level: 11 – 12                     Duration:  2 semesters

Prerequisite:  Basic Technical Drafting

Description:  The students are taught the making of good residential design through various drawing projects.  The projects will develop a complete set of residential plans.  The drawing projects are performed conventionally and on CAD (computer-aided drafting).

Title:  ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING II                              724500

Recommended Grade Level: 12                             Duration:  2 semesters

Prerequisite:  Architectural Drafting I and consent of Instructor.

Description: Architectural Drafting II is a one-hour per day course designed for senior students who have an interest in architecture as a career. The course is a continuation of Architectural Drafting I, with additional units on instruction to include light commercial and landscaping. Other instructional units covered in first year architecture will also be explored in greater depth and detail. Architectural Drafting II students will be required to construct a scaled model of the basic residential structure designed in first year architecture to include a booklet of all data and specifications required for actual construction of the residence.

 

Title: GRAPHIC ARTS I                                                       758000

Fee: $10.00  This course is a two hour block.  One must stay in the course the entire year in order to receive credit.

 

Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the procedures and techniques in graphic arts.  Students will produce products from concept to a finish.  All students will learn through demonstration and participation in Graphic Design (Desk-Top Publishing), Image Generation, Image Carrier, and Image Transfer.  Some of the projects planed for these students will include business cards, flyers, brochures, and logo design.  Students will experiment with the different screen printing methods and relief printing.

 

Title: GRAPHIC ARTS II                                          758500

Fee: $10.00  This course is a two hour block.  One must stay in the course the entire year in order to receive credit.

 

Description: This course is a continuation of Graphic Arts I and is designed to further the education and experiences of those students enrolled in this program.  The second year student will be working primarily with hands on projects involving all aspects of the field.  Some of the projects planed for these students will include: Computer Graphic Designs, Screen Printing, 1 to 4 color T-shirt design, Relief printing, and Sublimation printing (iron on’s). All students are required to operate equipment in the lab and to become familiar with the operation of computers and software.  The course will emphasize safe and efficient work practices and career opportunities.

 

Title:  PHOTOGRAPHY  I                                                            758700

Description: This course provides an introduction through the fundamental techniques and processes used in photography; the use of a 35mm single lens reflex (SLR) camera with emphasis on film exposure, composition, lighting, black and white processing.  Students will also be introduced to digital photography and the use of Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation.

 

Title: PHOTOGRAPHY II                                                            758900

Fee:  $25.00  Credit:  1 unit per semester/  Credit earned at the end of the year

Prerequisite:  Photography I

 

Description: Photography II is a course designed to allow the student to explore advanced techniques and processes used in photography, both traditional and digital.  More freedom is given to express creatively their artistic vision.
