Description:  This course is designed to help students acquire the study skills necessary to benefit from academic instruction at the high school level.  Emphasis is placed on how to study and take tests, how to use textbooks and do research, how to analyze problems and draw conclusions.  In addition, students receive individualized tutorial instruction to remediate deficits and to support classroom instruction in academic areas.  During annual IEP Conferences, students and their families begin planning for post- secondary education or vocational training for a smooth transition into the world of work.

Description: This course is designed for students who have moderate, severe or profound handicaps.  These students have difficult generalizing skills taught in the classroom to other environments outside the school setting; therefore, it is important that training be conducted in community settings.  Students are self-contained for five hours each day.  They work in the classroom on academics or out in the community experiencing everyday adult activities.

 

physical education

 

Title: ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION                                953000

 

Description:  Adapted Physical Education is a special program designed to meet the unique and physical abilities of special students.  Activities mirror regular physical education but are modified for successful participation.  Field trips, Special Olympics and games for the disabled are part of the total educational experience.
